Vietnam, is een land in Zuidoost-Azië.
Het bevindt zich op het Indochina-schiereiland en wordt begrensd door China in het noorden, door de golf van Tokin en het daarin gelegen Chinese eiland Hainan in het noordoosten, door de Zuid-Chinese Zee in het zuidoosten, door Cambodja in het zuidwesten en door Laos in het noordwesten.
Met 92.477.857 ( 2013 ) inwoners behoort Vietnam tot de veertien meest bevolkte landen ter wereld.
De hoofdstad is het noordelijke Hanoi, en de grootste stad is de zuidelijke Ho Chi Minhstad, het vroegere Saigon.
